MentorShow has just announced that it has completed a $4.5 million seed round led by the American VC Left Lane Capital and Tier-1 business angels including Frédéric Mazzella, founder of BlaBlaCar, Jon Oringer, founder of Shutterstock, Thibaud Elzière, founder of eFounders and Financière Saint-James, Michaël Benabou’s venture arm.
Founded in 2020 by Mathieu Moreno and Léo Dubert, MentorShow is the first European player producing and offering access to celebrity-taught masterclasses. The company positions itself at the intersection of learning, entertainment and inspiration to democratize the expertise of the best talents.
In less than a year of existence, the startup has experienced unique traction in the field and has garnered 20+ blockbuster names like Karim Benzema, Tony Parker, Gaël Monfils, Pierre Gagnaire, Pierre Hermé, Cyril Lignac or DJ Snake.
Thanks to these new funds, the company will further invest in customer acquisition and lock top mentors in strategic niches, both in France and neighboring countries. Dennis Yang, former Udemy CEO, and Frédéric Mazzella will serve as board advisors.
Léo Dubert, MentorShow Co-founder & CEO, said: “The Left Lane team is bringing tremendous experience in scaling consumer businesses (Calm, Udemy, HelloFresh, N26), along with a deep knowledge of our space. In fact, they immediately added value, therefore convincing us that they are the right partners for us in the long run.”
Vinny Pujji, Partner at Left Lane: “We are thrilled to partner with the team at MentorShow as they build the future of continued learning with a truly world-class roster of instructors. Their team has been incredibly efficient to date and achieved staggering levels of growth. »
